In 2015, the DAP Penang Govt increased assessment rates between 8.3 and 9.3 per cent for landed properties, and between 7.5 per cent and 8.5 per cent for apartments.
With the increase in rates, the Penang Govt will see an increase in revenue of RM40.95 million.
Just two days ago, the Penang Govt said they will exempt some properties from assessment and also gave a 6% discount (which they tried to tie to as "absorbing" GST from the "evil" BN Govt even though assessment rates, as with the majority of state and council operational revenues, are not subject to GST under the law.
The Penang Govt said this move.cost them RM35.84 million.
So, they announce increase and then a discount but there is sill a net gain is RM5.11 million.
And quietly, the DAP government sells off yet another state asset in their 49% shares in the Pulau Jerajak company for RM156 million.
Meanwhile the Penang people and DAP supporters praise DAP for giving exemptions and discounts for assessment rates - but do not realize they have collected an additional RM5.11 million extra overall from assessments while as the same time, another RM156 million from yet another sale of state asset quietly masuk.
Licik, no?
