The ongoing probe into the slaying of PKR politician Bill Kayong saw a ninth person arrested on Sunday evening (July 10) in Miri.
State CID chief SAC Dev Kumar revealed that the 27-year-old male was picked up by the operational team of the task force investigating the murder at a restaurant at Jalan Bendahara around 6pm.
“The suspect was arrested for questioning in connection with the murder. He will be produced in the Miri Magistrate Court today for remand.
“He is the ninth suspect arrested so far. Eight suspects are currently under custody, including the latest suspect,” said Dev Kumar in a statement this morning.
He added the investigation into the slaying is still ongoing and that police expect to submit their findings to the Deputy Public Prosecutor some time this week.
Bill, 43, was gunned down in his pickup truck on June 21 while waiting at a traffic light intersection in Tudan, Miri.
The vocal advocate of Native Customary Rights (NCR) issues was also Miri PKR branch secretary and stood as a candidate for the Bekenu constituency in the recent State Election.
