An opposition MP has praised the benefits of 1 Malaysia People’s aid (BRIM), especially to the lower income group.
PKR’s Kelana Jaya MP Wong Chen admitted that BR1M implemented by Barisan Nasional (BN) is a successful incentive scheme in helping the poor.
“I think BR1M is quite a successful programme and with the handouts, the needy are ensured of some form of monetary aid.
“It is directly paid out to the targeted low income group,” the PKR lawmaker said when questioned if Pakatan Harapan would continue with BR1M payouts if given the mandate to rule the country.
Wong was speaking to reporters after the launch of the Opposition’s 2017 Alternative Budget at the Parliament lobby.
Earlier, PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail had disclosed the budget themed ‘Defining the Future’.
Also present were Amanah President Mohamad Sabu and DAP national publicity secretary Tony Pua Kiam Wee.
